Last night the calm didn't last and in the small hours it started to pur with rain and the wind suddenly rose from F2 to F7 in a space of 5 minustes or so. It was raher a hairy time getting in the twin jibs and reefing the main, whereupon it moderated of course!

But now motoring again in calm, albeit with quite large swells. 80 miles to the 'border' between Brazil and France when we should alter course direct to the coast. I haven't yet decided wheather to go direct to Degrad des Cannes which is the port for Cayenne - which can only be entered at high water and in the absence of too much swell - or 20 miles up the coast to an anchorage near Devil's island. I can only decide when getting near and checking tides and daylight left as we approach. at current progress it's going to be the midddle of tomorrow night so heaaving to is probably on the cards anyway.
