We arrived early on Wednesday evening after a long journey to the North of Scotland. The conditions looked rather rough as we pulled into the car park just before dusk to find that the dinghy was aground and full of water.  We emptied her, dragged her to the end of the pontoon and filled her up again with our stores and gear. Our repaired outboard (the piston ring had snapped and half of it had disappeared, so no wonder it wouldn’t go in Iceland) started first time and took us out to the boat. We unpacked and checked her over before uploading a grib file to check the coming weather. With southerly storm force 10 forecast we decided that it might be a good idea NOT to set off for Cornwall but to let this depression pass over. This was the right choice! Even in the shelter of Plockton Harbour the Anemometer registered gusts of up to force 9. In the middle of the night the jib on a yacht moored near to us blew out and flogged itself into tatters by the morning. There was no way that anyone could have got over to help. Our flagstaff and ensign also carried away in the night. Needless to say we had a bit of a broken sleep and were not exactly hopping with energy.
