Well off, about 250 miles off in fact. A good current of around a knot and a half in our favour.

Today the wind has dropped so the sails are slatting around horribly but conditions are still very benign.

A sucessful day for fishing, althoughit was 3rd time lucky. Fisrt fish fought quite hard but I got it to near the stern and could see that it was a good sized tuna. But just as I was about to try to land it it shook off the hook. On lookimg at the hook it had somehow removed the barb, so I replaced the hook with a slightly stouter one and tried again. Second fish must have been huge as the force I could exert with the reel and 30 lb line had absolutely zero impact and the line screamed off the reel until it snapped. So third try and got a fairly small (about 50cm long) common dolphin fish - what the Americans call Mahi-Mahi - so should be excellent eating. Actually there are several hours between each incident so it's not exactly rapid action!
