10th we are resting in Marigot bay, St Lucia, with a some what feeling of
shadenfreude.
We will do parade of sail tomorrow morning around to
Rodney Bay and the finish line of the World Arc 2014/2015.
It has been an incredible adventure around the world and
one of the most memorable of places was the Islands of Vanuatu in the Pacific
Ocean,
particularly Port Resolution, Tanna, where we were greeted
by the most friendly of people with lovely smiley faces. As we arrieved at the
shore in our dingeys the people had been there since 6am digging out steps in
the steep mud bank so that we could climb up to the village.
Sadly ,Vanuatu was devestated by the rescent hurricane
Pam, which destroyed lives, water, crops and much more, our hearts are with
you.
These last few weeks ,following our check out at Cariacou,
Grenada, we have been cruising through the islands of St Vincents and the
Grenadines.. At Union island we were led astray on a small island/sand bank,
with rum punches that should be banned!!
following this we anchored at Tobago quays where we saw
and swam with turtles ,walked on a deserted island where we saw many large
Iguanas, amazing.
Our last stop was at Wallilabou bay, St Vincents, where we
were lured to our anchorage by a pirate looking fellow in a row boat, well out
to sea,who got us to tie him on to avocet and hitch a lift ashore. This bay
turned out to be where Pirates of the Carribean 1,2 &3 were filmed, we
really enjoyed it here and Sigi, Cameron and Margaret climbed the local volcano,
from sea level to over 1000 meters, it nearly killed them!!
Margaret will leave to go home on 14th and Derry, Cameron,
Wolf, and one other will continue on to BVI where they join the Arc Europe to
the Azores.
Thank you all for being with us in spirit, thats all for
now from Avocet. (Avocet can be followed on YB) (yellowbric)
