Avocet's Adventures Around the World

Well, at last we are on the move again, our longer than expected stop in Saldana Bay ( just north of cape town) allowed us time to get alot of unfinished jobs done. We also got to see some of the country, drank and ate lots, and met lots of nice people including our new crew for the onward voyage, so we are now graced with the presence of Sean Dugmore and his son Rudi, both avid sailors. So with the boat in better condition than ever and new crew we set of for Port Elizabith on the south coast about 500 nm east of cape town. With a short beat around the cape we soon beared onto a nice reach, weather was good at first, but as the name would suggest ( cape of storms) it wasn't long before we were running in a lovely gale. But this only helped progress and after 3 days we reached P.E. So that is the story so far, we hope to keep a better log going for the new passage so, wathch this space!! And now a word from the new crew.

Rudi here, fun first three days and adventures at that. the two Irishmen have been more than helpful and showed us a better way of living aboard Avocet, great company and good times to come on this journey across the open sea.Short and sweet from Rude, a man of few words!!! As Rude's says having a great time, brilliant run for 3 days, find the 6 hour watches a tad trying though. Had 1 or 2 close encounters with container ships so vigilance was the order of the day. Rudi and I are sharing a cabin and some mornings the gentle wafting odours are delightful but not bathing etc are right up our alley, once a week feels right and keeps the natural oils well balanced and we are glowing!! Anyway enough BS trust all are well and missing us back home can't say we feel the same but you are at least in our thoughts.........occasionally. Sean out.
