this is short update sunday6 february 2011 havana cuba we
have been here nine days and have seen quite a bit of cuba the trip here took
less than 40 hours at one stage getting 12 knots speed over ground with
help of three knot current arrived at three in morning .the entrance through the
reef is 30 meters wide there is supposed to be a bouy just off entrance but wind
has moved about 100 meters most of the bouys were not lit so scarey
passage.docked at 4 am and health inspector came within ten minutes and customs
and immmigration twenty minutes later rhen later agriculture people who counted
all fresh food on board but did not confiscate any ,,the hotel at the marina is
called el viejo y el mar, the old man and the sea .havana is nice but seedy and
run downeveryone friendly .the dockmaster got a friend to act as guide and taxi
for us and it works well on tuesday we will head out to florida and spend
some time there
