Once we had completed our clearing in procedures last Tuesday, we motored the three miles to anchor at the entrance to Matauwhi Bay off the township of Russell. Since our arrival I have caught up with Annie, made a new friend Paul (another junk-rig boat owner), done a bit of shopping and switched my phone to a NZ service. So, now we are about ready to move on.
The plan from here is to make our way to Whangarei, which is only 75 miles south of Bay of Islands. In Whangarei I will be hauling Sylph out at Dockland 5 for some hull repairs (and also now including replacing the head’s discharge pipework). I have made a tentative booking to haul out on 25th September, so we have plenty of time to get there and will aim to enjoy some of the many anchorages along the way.
All is well.
