I have started the ball rolling to get a health management plan in place with, as mentioned last week and as per my blog’s mission statement 'To keep on sailing’, the aim of ensuring my ageing body has the wherewithal to do a bit more long-distance sailing.
Of course, that only takes up a small part of my time. This week there has been a bit of a break in the rain during which I have managed to do a few boat chores, as ever touching up a few little rust spots here and there. Other jobs I have completed this week
include inspecting the impeller on the engine sea water pump (all good); stripping the V-berth bedding (got wet when punching to windward out of Backstairs Passage – suspect the cable locker chain-pipe leaked); installing some pins to keep the engine box drawers
secure when I open the engine box (a problem I have been meaning to fix for years now but have never gotten around to); spraying some fish oil and zinc paint into the chain locker to slow down rust from the aforementioned leak (refurbishing the cable locker
is on my next haul-out to do list) – etcetera.
On the social side, the next event I am looking forward to is my sailing club’s mess dinner this coming Saturday. So another job is to break out the dinner suit and spruce it up.
All is well.
