Routine maintenance continues. This week’s jobs were continuing painting the small rust spots that bleed through in certain spots and installing a new solar controller for the main solar panels. There was a fair bit of rain early in the week which slowed down
progressing the paintwork, but after a couple of days of sunshine, these patches have almost been completed. Once they are done I will attend to a few more small rust spots, mostly on top of the gunwale. I purchased the new Victron solar controller because
I was not satisfied that my existing controller was working as efficiently as I thought it should. Plus the new controller has a Bluetooth function which allows me to monitor what is going on a lot more closely through my tablet, and it also integrates with
my other Victron systems. Thus far it seems to be working well, and I think more efficiently than the old one.
However, the highlight of the week was RANSA’s (my Sydney sailing club) mess dinner celebrating the club’s 60th anniversary. It was an opportunity to dress up for a more formal occasion as well as have a bit of fun in keeping with naval mess traditions. A good
night was had by all.
Next week will be quiet on the social side but we will continue boat and personal maintenance.
All is well.
