My thoughts have started to turn towards getting under way again, once more with the destination of Sydney in mind and, if all goes well, hopefully further. I have set myself a departure date of 28 January and started working towards disconnecting the shore ties I have established over the past several months. Most importantly, my model ship has been handed over to a trusted friend, Rob of Innukshuk fame, and I am very grateful that he has agreed to take care of it for what at this stage is an indeterminate period. I have also put the little blue Hyundai Getz on the market but unfortunately thus far have not had any serious enquiries. Indeed, the only enquiries I have received have been from several scammers trying to rip me off. It is awful that the internet has become such a labyrinth of deceit that one has to remain hyper-vigilant whenever financial transactions are involved.

But apart from having to negotiate the ever-present crooked element of humanity …
