You will remember my sister, Linda, and John my bro-in-law joined me for
the long passage from Buenos Aires down to the Falklands, Staten Island and
ending up in Ushuaia. We got hit by a hurrcane-force storm north of the
Falklands for 36 hours. It seemed horrendous to me at the time but Linda and
John clearly enjoyed it more than they let on, because they are heading off on
their own adventure into the high latitudes.
Tomorrow they leave the west coast of Scotland on their boat
Suilven bound for Iceland, thence Greenland ..... and then, ice
willing, the North West Passage! They will be buying a rifle in Greenland to
protect themselves from the marauding polar bears so, in that respect amongst
others, quite different to our adventure in Antarctica.
Suilven is an Oyster 47 very similar in size and design to
Mina2.
Whilst Mina2 is out of the water in Grenada for the summer, you can get
your fill of excitement by following them at www.blog.mailasail.com/suilven
.. Linda will be the Blogmaster and, as the second best blogmaster in the world,
it should be riveting. Enjoy!
