St Martin or Sint Maarten, depending on whether you are on the French or the Dutch side, is the smallest area in the world split into two country dependencies.  We anchored in the French side with chocolate croissants on our minds.  We weren't disappointed, the supermarket was full of French goodies but with the weakness of the pound it was all very expensive, we did manage a few little treats though!

After a morning of looking around the local market and a couple of lunchtime beers, we went back to the boat where John and Guy attached the motor to our very heavy and antique like, India bought, sewing machine, whilst Ann readied herself for the task of cutting a whole in the sun bimini and attaching a zip, so that we would be able to sail with the bimini up and still see the Windex.  A very good job she made of it too!

The next day we sailed north to a small island in the nature reserve called Ilet de Tintamarre.  We anchored in a very pretty bay,but the water was a little murky and the dive we did didn't have much growth on it, there were turtles in the water though, and they kept popping up to the surface for a breather.

After a relaxing afternoon we set sail for the British Virgin Islands (BVI), at dusk with a 80nm sail ahead of us.  With Guy and Ann on board we only had to do one 2 hour watch each during the night, a real treat.  Unfortunately, the sea was rough and none of us got much sleep so there were four grumpy heads in the morning.
