Channel Fever
Position 45 42.5N 9 54.2W Wednesday 10th June 360 miles to Plymouth Further
good progress through the night, though it was murky and wet, still with six
gusting seven on the tail. This morning it’s all gone really quiet, the motor’s
on and Irie’s trundling along at just over 5 knots. This is probably the shape
of things for the next three days, with sort of midday Saturday maybe, possibly
but there’s many a slip between hoojah and thingumy – therefore a degree of
uncertainty, perhaps. Meanwhile the sun’s out and life on board has opened up
–drying wet gear, a bit of cleaning and tidying, consumption of the remaining
food (exceptions: beans, corned beef), hasty reading of those unfinished books,
final beard growing; in short a sort of awakening to the reality that this
team’s home for the last six weeks is coming to an end. Knot
of the day: Man harness from fools knot
