The squalls blew themselves out, the wind dropped, and the sky turned cloudless
and blue - perfect for swimming, canoeing and lazing in the cockpit,. We had an
excelent dinner on Singuala, the American third of the blue boat trio. She's a
very sharp and nippy New York 40 - a lovely boat and a classic of its kind that
has been in the same hands since new in 1979; well loved and raced hard, but now
out here for a spot of cruising. Elizabeth is Swedish and a banker, Larry
was in the print business as a consultant, and son Eric's been a coastguard and
currently between roles. A very merry evening, topped off by a successful
baptism of Larry's HF radio. Monday was a perfect VI day with all the
ingredients outlined above topped of by a cracking romp across the Sound at
7 knots plus as we headed for Nanny Cay again. There's no space in the marina over Christmas, but it is in any case
cheaper to haul, wash and chock up than leave her in the water.
Today therefore,we hauled out, but as we're back in two weeks, there's little
to sort by comparison with last times epic mothballing for the hurricane
season. This meant a modest morning's work with an early lunch and an afternoon
in the sun by the deserted pool. Judging from all the e-mails, arriving home to
an English winter on Thursday may be somewhat of a shock - where have the last
three weeks gone? Pictures: Irie going walkabout in a huge travel
