No word from Melv as yet.   Although he thought the trip would take three – possibly four – weeks, his sailing friends think that was probably overly optimistic given he would need to achieve 100+ miles per day, which would require optimum sailing conditions.  His friend, Richard, has been keeping an eye on the weather in The Atlantic and believes Melv would have encountered an unhelpful mix of light winds and then stronger winds ‘on the nose’.  Richard thinks he will be struggling to make headway and is not surprised it is taking longer than anticipated.  He also says it won’t have been a pleasant trip because the winds will have brought rain.  I’ll post another entry as soon as I have more news.
