Second diary entry - Newport delivery to BVI

What an amazing place an ocean can be. You go for three days with awful
winds and then the next minute have a millpond with a northerly Force 4
wind. We have only managed to sail for 12 hours the entire trip. It looks
like we may motor the whole way. we spent 1000 dollars on fuel in newport
and then 3000 dollars in bermuda! We are averaging about 8 knots and
laboriously eating up the miles.
Our current position is:
29 43 .15N 64 27 .99W, and our course is 200 degrees True.
It seems there are no weather systems to trouble us. One gale should
pass behind us tomorrow and nothing threatens in the BVI. We should get
to the BVI by Thursday early morning.
Ems has finished one book, and so indeed have I. Our brains are highly
active with playing the brain game every day - good purchase - thanks
pete and linda!
I am attempting to catch a big mahi mahi. We have had the line out all
morning and just sit and think fishy thoughts in hopes of attracting one
to our lure. Mahi steaks for dinner would be nice! No real pressure on
the hunter-gatherer, of course!
We are eating like demons now the weather has improved - making up for
the food we could not eat at the beginning!...and the food we ate and
saw again! Ummm. Nice! Unless i catch a fish we have prawn curry for
dinner and just tucked into a lovely salad!
Ems is busy on a new project - trying to get her tan back before
arriving in the BVI! This should see her very busy on the trampoline
for the next few days, whilst i keep us on course and away from boats.
Paul will especially understand the madness in this!
