Bonaire kind of grows on you after a while. Its not the prettiest place, but the diving really is spectacular. It mostly shore diving, and many of the sites look similar - no swim throughs or caverns. Nothing like Chimneys in BVI. But the amount of fish life is mind-blowing. They are everywhere. We have seen more Eels in 3 dives, than we saw in months diving in the BVI. Yesterday we just dove off the boat where it was moored and saw a lovely healthy looking reef in beautiful clear visibility. Today we hired a guide and did Bonaire's only wreck - the Hilma Hooker. Its a 90ft dive on an old cargo ship. Its a great dive with loads of nooks and crannies to to have a look at. Before it sank, the authorities found a good deal of drugs on board. the owner did a runner after sinking the boat and has not been seen since - all very exciting!  We saw the biggest green moray i have ever seen, out swimming around as we came to the end of the dive.

Next we dove under a pier. It is the main pier that the ships use when picking up salt from the large salt pond that is here. It did not look much from the surface, but once we got down there, it was teeming with fish.  Loads of Tarpon and Angel Fish - all looking really healthy and a good size too. None of the fish seem to be shy. I guess they are just so used to having divers around them all the time. Without doubt, this is not a place to come to if you are NOT in to diving!
