By 1 am the wind picked up again so motor off and fast sailing all day again on beam reach with Bert driving
Around 1700 the shackle at the main tack failed so replaced with a dynema shackle and re-tensioned - the whole gooseneck assembly is creaking horribly and is clearly not right. Its in the list for a major overhaul when we get to Spain
Just before last light we were joined by three whales who were spouting right alongside. We have subsequently learnt they are pilot whales - beautiful, ponderous creatures; we could hear them singing.
Then in the dusk the wind died away so motor back on again
