Slowish day. After yesterday's excitement of
Chris' fish and clearing the line around the prop we have had very little
wind. This meant we rolled along at around 3 knots for most of the day and
motored through the night. All rather dull ...
Except yesterday evening we were joined by a huge pod of
dolphins who stayed with us for a good hour, leaping out of the water and
landing back in with huge splashes. None of us could work out why dolphins
like to play in the bow wave of the boat or why they leap so
spectacularly. These are wild animals and mostly wild animals are motivated
by the three esses: sex, survival and scoff; the only explanation we can
think of is its simply for fun. Delightful for us!
The lack of wind is going to make us late into Mindelo -
probably Thursday night - so it will be a fast turnaround before we set off
again for the long leg to St Vincent.
On board everyone is well; seasickness has been
conquered and the systems are all working well so we are all enjoying showers
today!
