Settling down into trade wind sailing now. The wind blows with glorious predictability from slightly north of west and we have found Kelpie's sweet spot vis a vis sail plan so we roll along at 6 to 7 knots running up our westing as the old clipper captains would say
The sea is rougher than expected but perfectly tolerable; mealtimes are interesting as we try to balance and juggle a highly mobile feast!
No more fish since Chris' monster of the deep - we are probably going too fast.
The leaderboard (which we receive as a text-only email) shows a lot of people have gone south. Our strategy is to sail the Great Circle which is the shortest distance so we are somewhat north of the straight line you would draw on an atlas. I have divided the journey into seven legs of 300 miles each. We just completed the first seventh in about 50 hours which puts us on track for a 15 day passage.
