We got off to a good start yesterday lunch time and a
fast reach down the coast of Gran Canaria. At dusk the watch below could
hear dolphins chirping but we didn't see them. Overnight the wind dropped
so motored to midnight . Then a fast beam reach again through the small hours
with Kelpie clipping along nicely at 6 1/2 or 7 knots occasionally. The
benefits of a clean bottom!
The wind went with the night so by dawn we were
motor-sailing again until moon when a westerly breeze filled in. Whatever
happened to the trade winds (supposed to be easterlies)?
24 hour run was 132 miles
Everyone is well (except for a little mal-de-mer here
and there) and we are settling back into our passage routine.
