151 miles noon to noon run which is gratifyingly fast for Kelpie. The weather forecast is for the wind to reduce in front of us so we are slowly working our way a bit further south to find a bit more.

Chris hooked an absolute monster of a fish and played it really well for about 45 minutes before his line broke; I am not sure how we would have dealt with it if he had caught it. He got it to within a few feet of the boat and it looked big, dangerous and unhappy! Species unknown. Shame about his lure though - it was brand new and rejoiced in the name of the "X-rap" - so much a better seller than its predecessor the "C-rap"!!

That was the second lure he lost today - earlier the line ran out for a few seconds, there was a big thump as the rod almost jumped out of its socket and then the line broke. I am not worried - he seems to have an inexhaustible supply of lures and just before lunch he caught a lovely dorado which we will have for supper.

In other news, Kelpie is holding together well - long distance sailing is really all about being a stand-by mechanic trying to fix stuff faster than it breaks - so far its been easy to keep up.

We have been getting lovely emails from Leigh, Jane, Johnny and Gina - Blighty sounds pretty grim - hope we dont run out of sun block here!
