Story - 21st June 2009
GRIB
discussions have indicated an area of potentially strong easterly winds against
the swell off Finisterre and so the decision has been made to head for Gijon and
wait for better conditions. The
wind direction means we are sailing downwind at 120 degrees, the strategy is to
gybe downwind all the way to Gijon. A twin
engine light aircraft is showing a lot of interest in us, it first flew us low
and close on Friday and returned today. Bill thinks it may well be a customs
patrol. We sighted
one yacht about our size sailing on a similar course but we were sailing faster,
they eventually change course completely and headed in the direction of
Brest. The evening
brought a pod of about 12 dolphins or probably porpoises, they played around the
boat for about 30minsand then returned an hour or so later.
