After clearing back in at Sopers Hole, we zoomed up to Sandy Spit, just off little Jost Van Dyke and had a lovely afternoon playing in the gorgeous sand. The Children enjoyed jumping of the dunes and Daddy burying them!! We then moved the boat a very short distance over to Diamond Cay, as recommended by Prof Fox. It was lovely and quiet and only a handful of boats. You can do a 20 or so minute walk to the ‘Bubbly Pool’ which was well worth the visit. The children were very excited when the waves came in and the pool turned into a Jacuzzi. We then decided to go to the local beach bar and met up with some lovely fellow cruisers. Arthur amused himself for an enormous amount of time making a boat out of an old coconut, a piece of string and a broken plank of wood. This was without any help or encouragement from either Douglas or I, so I think he is showing signs of being handy like his Daddy!!
We decided to head over to Cane Garden bay again in the morning and stayed there overnight. It was lovely and quiet as it was not a cruise ship day- the beach was totally empty and glorious!! We recognised a boat from Diamond Cay, and they have a 4 year old too- so we organised a play on the beach which was so lovely as Arthur and Alice do not get may opportunities to mix with other children. We are hoping to meet up with them again in the Spanish Virgins.

We then moved back to Sopers Hole on Tortola to prepare the boat for Nick and Biddy’s arrival. It was a good opportunity to clear out the sand which, despite being very careful seems to creep onboard!!

It was so great to see Nick and Biddy and hear about what has been going on in the real world! unfortunately they had a horrid trip from Barbados and were a day late due to Caribbean unreliability!! Our home for the week was a 50 foot Benateau. Arthur and Alice immediately found all the nooks and crannies to hide in. There were 4 huge cabins and Arthur came rushing over and said (honestly this is word for word…) “ MUMMY- you won’t Adam and Eve it…… There are 4 loos on this boat. He was SOOOOO excited about that!! One cabin became the ‘playroom’ which the children never used, and they chose to share a bunk as always, even though they could have had a bunk each. Sweet!

As our home for the week was not allowed off the dock (we got it through air B and B) we hired a car and had great fun exploring the island………
