This is a great name for a harbour as we had a very jolly time here indeed!! My parents, Bob and Immy, rented a lovely house here for 2 weeks. It was such fun sailing right up to the house to be met by the folks and Arion was able to stay alongside the house for the whole time. There is a great set up here and the formula worked very well for us all.  There are plenty of pretty anchorages and beaches within a short sailing distance from the Harbour. Most days we would set of with a picnic and spend a long morning on the beach or snorkelling, then head home in time for a late afternoon swim in the marina pool. The children’s swimming came on in leaps and bounds. Alice can now swim on her own, which looks pretty frightening. I think it would be more accurate to call it ‘not sinking’ rather than swimming!! After 2 days, we were joined by Great Aunt Vicky who was with us for a week. We managed a trip to English Harbour one day to see the old dockyard, and also went snorkelling on Cades reef which was very special. The other bays and beaches we found were amazing, but unfortunately the water visibility was not great so we did less snorkelling than we had hoped. Our favourite bay was called Hermitage bay, very quiet, sheltered and the colour of the water was spectacular!

On another day, We found a tiny little island and decided to go ashore here just for fun. Arthur and Alice found a treasure map in a bottle on the beach (!!!!) and so we had a treasure hunt and found (where the X on the map was of course) a plastic box with some treasure inside. It was really sweet and Arthur keeps talking about finding the treasure on ‘Captain Kippers Island!!’. A good team effort all round to pull that off….!

The house came with a golf buggy and Grandad suddenly found lots of reasons to go to the shops with Douglas to get provisions. Quite how it took them 2 hours to buy a loaf of bread I am not sure…………. I think a bar was involved somewhere.

It was so lovely to see my parents and aunt and we were really sad to wave goodbye. We headed straight back to English Harbour as we were waiting there to meet up with Douglas’ parents who are on a cruise round the Caribbean for 30 days. To be continued!!
