Moving from the Bitter End, round to Savannah bay was a lovely change of scene. Here, we were one of only 3 boats. Apparently it is off limits for the Charter Boats as there is a slightly dodgy reef to navigate your way around to get in. Once here, you have an enormous white sand beach upon which to play. unfortunately the snorkelling was not amazing as much of the coral is dead, and full of the dreaded lion fish, but Arthur really enjoyed diving (his new found skill!) for shells in the shallow water. After a quiet night here, we set off for the Baths which was quite busy. It was just as magical as it had been 9 years ago for Douglas and I. It almost feels like the rocks and scenery are fake as it is so ‘perfect’. We took the children climbing all over the rocks, before realising that this was not part of the dedicated ‘trail’, which we did afterwards! There were a few interesting manoeuvres in the process, which I am sure any health and Safety officer would have had a coronary over- but all was fine in the end, and Arthur and Alice loved it so much they wanted more!!!! In the afternoon, while Alice slept, Douglas and Arthur went snorkelling and more playing on the beach before it was time to move on to Marina Cay, just off Trellis Bay, Beef Island. We had a fab evening ashore listening to music. The children creating their own ‘show’ in the process! It is a great anchorage here, but very busy with Charter yachts.

This morning we moved round to Monkey point which has some incredible snorkelling. Arthur joined in with his snorkel mask which was really sweet, and quite brave of him as he certainly was not sure to begin with! He saw a huge variety of fish and was full of beans on returning to the boat to check the species in his fish book. I came rather too close to an enormous Barracuda (which I obviously did not report back to the others) which explains why I swam rather rapidly back to the boat….. Some Canadian friends we met at the Bitter End joined us for a cup of tea and some of Granny P’s famous lavender shortbread which was fun. On sailing past the cove they had seen our distinctive red bimini and decided to swing by.

We chose White Bay on Guana Island for our night time stop which was a 15 minute trip away. A beautiful long white beach where we spent the evening swimming and running around. It has been a very magical day today as we have crammed a lot in.

Next stop is Joss Van Dyke so will let you all know what this is like in due course!
