Waking up in White Bay, Guana Island could not have been more magical. I took the children ashore for a swim and a play on the beach. There is a resort here, hidden in the trees. I think it is probably a very exclusive and low key resort, but we were lucky enough to be able to swim off the beach here in absolutely clear turquoise water with nobody else around (probably a bit early for most people on holiday as it was 0830!!) Douglas joined us after doing some boat jobs and then we set off for Cane Garden Bay, Tortola. This was a total contrast as, unbeknown to us, it was a cruise ship day and the beach was packed! (We are now not allowed to be rude about cruise ship people any more….!!!!) It is a very beautiful bay, with palm trees and lots of stalls and bars. We had a lovely lunchtime stop over here with lots of sandcastle building with some children from Liverpool and some local grub which was a welcome change from an Arion ‘treasures of the Bilge’ lunch (we have forfeited re provisioning for more adventuring for the moment- the family are being very tolerant of my creations!!)
We then moved on to White Bay on Joss Van Dyke which, again is a perfect white sand bay. Arthur and I swam ashore and saw an enormous ray on the sandy bottom- very exciting! We went to the famous ‘Soggy Dollar Bar’ and met some fun people. Arthur and Alice found a little boy of 3 to play with which was lovely. Today has been really wonderful. So much beach and swimming for the children they were both totally exhausted.
