ODE TO A CUCKOO A cuckoo is a crafty bird (His voice is often heard) Who sits in other’s nests He guzzles all the nourishment And lays out loads of punishment He becomes a real pest! A cuckoo is a naughty bird (His voice is often heard) Who grows and grows and grows The other chicks get no attention Clever bird draws his pension Where will it end? Who knows! A cuckoo is a noisy bird (His voice is often heard) He loves to sing and sing The song becomes monotonous We tire of it – that’s all of us But who to tell this thing? A cuckoo is a solo bird (His voice is often heard) He squawks ‘cuckoo’ ‘cuckoo’ The good is never good enough The smooth is always far too rough He doesn’t seem to realise He could be happy too!! |
