18.04N 50.41S The wind is back, the Twistle has phoenixed and
risen again (with the help of a couple of shackles to hold it down until we can
get it properly welded in Antigua), the Hydro vane is back in business and we
are off………… Den Maidment, the inventor of the
Twistle, has been in touch via email and we were applying to much pressure load
on the mechanism by sheeting down too heavily when actually the whole thing
needs to fly free. Paul has rewired the fridges and they are back at the
right temperature, the diesel leaking from the inspection hatches has been
plugged and our tanks are full of water – hoorah!
The first couple of yachts are already in Jolly Harbour,
lucky things, but we still have four or five days to go. The radio net
was a real mish mash today as nobody could hear the controller! Still we got
the gist that everybody was getting wind from the right direction and the fleet
is on the move again. Nobody has major problems, some are now short on
fuel, but no concerns on the whole. The weather is great, the seas are flat and
we are headed in the right direction……….
