ANAHI - REBAK MARINA MARCH 2009 - AND A QUICK BREAK......

Saturday 14th March – Position – flying Air Asia somewhere over the Yemen on our way back to the U.K. and then Spain.  Our two years away from ‘home’ are nearly up, our tenants have moved out, we have family and friends to visit and the monsoon rains have arrived early with a vengeance.

We got pretty sidetracked from our original job list.  Once the decks were finished and the mat and boom re-spray was completed we tackled the filthy rusty deck lockers: clearing them out, cleaning them and their contents, spray painting the insides with a more durable two pack paint (rather than the Damboline we used last time) before replacing all the perished rubber seals on the lids.  All the rigging has been reunited with the mast and boom,  the repaired mainsail collected, the chaffed mainsheet re-spliced, the dorade vents spruced up, the anchor windlass overhauled and the decking above and below it reinforced.  All these jobs are standard self imposed general maintenance so we’re glad they’re done.  A short break will be welcome to charge up our batteries!

Interspersed with the ‘hard labour’ we have met up with the Zippies who sailed down to Telaga from Thailand which was great fun, spent a couple of days in Kuala Lumpar and thoroughly enjoyed the monthly cocktail party thrown for the yachties in Rebak.  How lucky were we that Ken Bradley on Ken-B Catamaran parked next to us on the hard and lent us his bicycles – so we have been mobile recently and seen a bit more of our island.

Great to have wheels….

Anahi, so proud and capable at sea is all wrapped up like a sausage in a blue tarpaulin – smarter but benign – in repose, resting and ready for her next adventure………..
