115.12.775E 08.44.468S  Sunday 12th October  We arrived in Bali Marina at midday after ten days, two days in Ashmore Reef and 130 hours of motoring.  Richard from BWR has flown from Kupang to meet us, having successfully organised all the other Rally members’ visas for Indonesia.

Arriving at the harbour entrance

Frenetic activity with surfers, jet skis, para gliders…..

…..flying air mattresses with people hanging on for dear life….

…see him hanging on to the airborne mattress??

…..banana boats………

….fishing boats heading straight for us……

And finally tucked into our berth in the marina…..

In area, Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world consisting of around 17,500 islands stretched out along the equator and extending 1000 miles north to south and 2500 miles east to west.  There are few ports: the various groups are Irian Jaya, Sumatra, Java, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Bali (which is port of entry like Kupang).  As a group it has the largest Moslem population in the world although Bali has a mix of Buddhists and Hindus (the only Hindu society in Southeast Asia).

We have enjoyed a wonderful trip here, Clara’s seasickness abated yesterday so she is feeling much happier and we are all looking forward to exploring…………

Today we have been confined to the Marina whilst our clearances get processed………tomorrow is another day………….
