We had a "lively" sail here from Guadeloupe and arrived Saturday afternoon. For "lively" read "strong winds, rough seas and several squalls"
We have unwittingly arrived just before the start of the Caribbean 600 sailing race. We have anchored just out of the main channel into Falmouth Harbour and spent this morning sitting in the cockpit watching them leave the harbour and sail out to practice in the bay. There were some very impressive racing yachts with huge crews - 22 was the largest number we counted. The race starts tomorrow at 1050 and we hope to go out in the dinghy to watch the start. We have walked to Nelson's dockyard in English Harbour today, which is just next door to Falmouth Harbour.
