Blog 5 will the butter melt

The truly amazing thing is that 24 hours after departure there was not another yacht to be seen. Have the Klingons had a yacht fest?? Or has Captain Kirk screwed up his navigation in a major way. I always was interested in Mauritania. That was the country that fielded half an athlete at the Olympics who, who competing in the modern pentathlon did rather well with the Kalashnikov but not much else?

Well, fearful that we might be late for the rum punch we have engaged warp drive, unleashed our secret weapon (inner foresail on a Hoyt boom) and set off West – at least SW.

As you can see from the photo the old sea dog tale of “head south till the butter melts” has yet to come true. Still we are blest with a F 5/6 North Easterly  and making good progress – 180 NM per day so far so no complaints.

Spirits are high (not literally) as long as we don’t look behind.

Will the butter have melted?? will we encounter an iceberg???
