Finally arrived in Port Hedland! The main reason we embarked on this trip! Fi worked in the hospital here with her friend Rhona some 38 years ago! The hospital is no longed there. It was flattened in a cyclone a few years back but we managed to find out where it was and got a pic of Fi in front of the empty site! Apparently waiting for a developer to build apartments. The bougainvillea are still there! Apart from that it seemed a very nice place, very tidy. A major base for iron ore exports, also salt production and of course the oil and gas business. So it looked quite prosperous. Very nostalgic for Fi as she enjoyed her eight months there.
