Plan +24 hours: Party!
Three years of planning and hard work by Ross, with assistance
from many others, came to fruition today as Starcross arrived safely in St
Lucia, 25 days after leaving Gran Canaria, finishing at 1631 UT (1231
Local).
No injury to crew or boat, and all crew are still friends.
The crew were regailed with rum and beer by locals on arrival, with a
bottle of champagne quickly following. With gin and pims currently being
pulled out of the boat's cellar, the celebrating has well and truely
started.
Thank you to everyone who has been reading our blog and sharing our
experiences (from the comfort of their own home, sensibly). This will be
the last blog post on the ARC website, however we will be continuing to report
the travels of Starcross on http://blog.mailasail.com/starcross.
We hope you will keep following us.
Some messages from the crew:
Ross...
Enjoyable experience. Crew and boat performed
wonderfully, sailed all the way (no engine). Looking for companions for
similar adventurous experience April - June 2011. Miami/Bahamas to UK via
Bermuda and Azores. If you are interested please get in touch!
Alastair...
Hooray we have arrived. Now busy looking for the Shreddies
shop!
Alex...
It was a fantastic experience. A few of the many highs include the
beautiful sunsets and sunrises, visits from dolphins, the ever changing sea
scapes, having fun with all the crew, baking fresh bread every day and
getting away with eating loads of chocolate. A few of the lows
inlclude being petrified of giant waves crashing over, washing in salt water and
the day we didn't go anywhere.
Paul...
The world is very very big. Oceans are vast. Yachts are
small.
Will...
It has been a long way from Oban (6,500 NM), but we are in St Lucia at
last, sweet. Make mine a rum please.
