We sailed from Grand Anse, back around Diamond Rock
to Le Marin - hitting a strong force 5 on the nose, and rough sea. The pilot
book said this passage was often like being in a washing machine - and it was
correct.
We spent three nights in Le Marin - the first day
we spent waiting for the marina to find us a yacht, and then visiting two
supermarkets to stock up on lovely French food. The second day we hired a car,
and drove up the east coast - visiting the harbours that we had failed to get to
- and driving half way up Mount Pele - into the clouds.
Our return from Le Marin to Rodney Bay (St
Lucia) can only be described as rough. With large breaking waves, ideally
we would have waited a couple of days for the sea to die down, however with
family to meet, and given it was a broad reach, we made the decision to go for
it.
The next two days were spent cleaning and preparing
for the family visit. Chris managed to talk his way onto a fantastic Oyster 55
to give us more room for the family
invasion. |
