Intention: to sail to Horta on Faial in the Azores (905NM)
We passed the 1,000 miles to go point yesterday afternoon and are now
cracking along at over 7 knots with a westerly that is expected to last for
4 days; arrival at Horta on Monday/Tuesday is possible. After a very dark
night with poor visibility, the weather remains rather gloomy with occasional
glimpses of the sun and the sea state is comfortable for mid Atlantic.
Interestingly, we appear to be experiencing an ocean current which is at
present from the north at around 2 knots.
Yesterday's bread baking was a success, and oven temperature/baking
time will be refined for even greater excellence today.
Last night we had a successful HF radio link up with Humber Fortress
Amateur Radio Club, a distance of over 2,200 miles. Reception was good
allowing a worthwhile conversation to take place with members of
Hull Sailing Club (Della's Club). We plan to repeat on Friday.
Looking forward to considerable progress over the next few
days. |
