On Sunday we decided to do a long overdue
maintenance job and clear out the discharge pipes from the heads (toilets). We
spent all day wrestling with smelly anaconda like pipes and eventually finished
at 10pm. Just another lazy day in paradise, but at least the loo smells
good!
Next morning we got underway heading towards Bequia
about 30 miles to the North East. We had a good sail with plenty of reefs in but
with blue sea and sky. Many people have told us they liked Bequia and when
we dropped anchor in Admiralty Bay we understood why. A sheltered harbour
with many interesting boats, interisland ferries, square riggers
etc.
On Tuesday we decided to use the local water taxi
service 'Daffodil' to get ashore and explored the two streets of Port Elizabeth
and Doris' supermarket which was stocked with many European items, some out
of date but most of which were very expensive as you might imagine. We also
took a local bus to Friendship Bay on the south coast where there was a
wonderful beach and an equally wonderful swell rolling in - not a
place for anchoring with these winds! As our next stop was St
Lucia, another country, we then had to clear out from the customs and
immigration departments of St Vincent & the Grenadines.
