On Friday morning we weighed anchor bound for Union Island only 10 miles away. As we left we spoke to Andre and Eloise off Gros Calin the boat we met up with in mid Atlantic who had just arrived from Grenada. We agreed to try and meet up properly further North.

We had an easy beat up to Union under reefed main and staysail and anchored off Frigate Island in a lovely sheltered inlet at midday. We don't know why it is called Frigate Island because it is attached to Union Island.  Perhaps it wasn't 500 years ago when Chris Columbus came by!  Lovely clear water with the wonderful turquoise colour that we see in the travel brochures.

I had to rush ashore and take a bus to Clifton to clear in . The bus quickly filled up with smartly dressed locals in high spirits who were obviously off to a posh bash somewhere.  It was only when they all got off at a Church that I realised they were going to a funeral.

We woke on Saturday to grey skies and gusty winds. Normally these clear through in an hour or so. Not today!  We decided to stay tucked into our cosy anchorage until the sun reappeared.  Several other like minded yachties joined us as the day wore on still grey, gusty and showery definitely not what the brochure said!
