The OCC 60th Anniversary Rally on Mount Desert Island has been great fun. We have talked the seven seas with some very accomplished salty dogs some of whom make our adventures seem quite modest, but they are all great people & very understated. We visited the Maine Granite Museum where we learned how granite was quarried by hand before the age of machinery, the beautiful Abbey Aldrich Gardens on the Rockefeller Estate, & the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbour where they study & teach human ecology, the relationship between humans & the world around us. From Winter Harbour we visited the Shoodic Education & Research Center where they specialise in environmental issues within the Arcadia National Park.
We are now only 60nm from the Canadian boarder & reluctantly, it's time to turn South before autumn arrives. We have logged nearly 2,000 nm up the Eastern seaboard & visited 15 States but the evenings are drawing in & we have no charts for Canada anyway. We are now in long trousers & fleeces if the sun is not out, & run the boat heater most evenings. When the sun is out it's lovely & the scenery in this beautiful landscape comes alive. We've also made a lot of new friends whom we're sadly leaving behind.

With love to all, from Peter & Christene
