Essouira would have warranted a longer stay had it not been for the filthy state of the harbour and a suitable weather window for the potentially 2 day crossing to Graciosa to the North of Lanzarote. The medina was relaxed & colourful to walk through although living standards for the locals did not look too good. Morocco is an interesting mix of African, Arab, and French & Spanish cultures, with the Berbers in the Atlas the most enchanting. We've bought a tagine a Moroccan cook book so we can continue to enjoy their food but we're looking forward to being able to drink alcohol again! I doubt we'll sail down the coast again but we're glad we did it.
The crossing itself split into 3 parts, a 10 hour motor ending up in fog, then as darkness fell a 15 hour power reach through a rain front at mega speed (were we relieved to get the 2 reefs in!), but we finished up motoring much of the second day
