We had needed to get to Antigua for the 6th and we'd done it - just. I (Jo)
had some long standing friends of my parents coming in on a cruise ship just for
the day. Chris and Tony Gill have known me since I was 3.........
Chris and Jo in 'The Copper and Lumber' Nelsons
Harbour
As we were at anchor rather than on a pontoon,
climbing aboard Lazy Dawn proved a little tricky, not to mention the added
complication of a squall passing over just at the critical moment of climbing
aboard!!!!
Chris and Tony - on board but
wet!!!!
The Anchorage in Freeman Bay English Harbour in
the sunshine!!
It was really great to them!
The historical Nelsons Dockyard
'Shirley Heights', a regular Sunday venue on
the hill overlooking English Harbour as the sunsets listening to a steel
drums.....
The beach is the bay where we were anchored. Nelsons Dockyard is
by the tall masts.
We thought crossing the Atlantic in a 40ft yacht
was an achievement but when we arrived in Antigua we felt humbled!!! The
Atlantic rowers were arriving..........they had taken 3 months. From
1 to 4 people on board and all raising money for charity. Matthew Pinsent
was one of the early finishers but unfortunately he was not around when we
arrived!
An Atlantic rowing boat!!
