Final Preperations in Falmouth
Lazydawn

So after a long few days getting ready to leave,
the car was packed stuffed full of all the cruising toys, including the big
anchor and 100 metres of chain. The poor car could only just take the
weight but we got back to Lazy Dawn in Plymouth's Mayflower Marina and
after some serious heaving of boxes and chains the boat was back to cruising
mode and ready to go...
We had a couple of fantastic day sails, first to
Fowey in great sunshine with an over night stop with dinner in Sams
Bistro. Very good indeed especially for us as it was the first place we
sailed to together. But this time it was on our own boat and we tested the new
rubber tender and outboard motor. All worked well except my skills to get
out of the tender after a fill of good food and beer!!
The next day we had a great sail to Falmouth with
F6 from the East. We flew there at over 9 knots at times, not bad for a couple
of cruisers!!!
The next few days were moving cars back home and
getting the boat ready for the Biscay crossing and final farewells to friend and
family. We had a great time and were really looked after well by all. We picked
up Leon our third crew member on the final trip down in the hire car on
Tuesday night, the plan to leave on Wednesday if the weather was right to ensure
Leon could get back to work by the following Tuesday!!
