As the title says we,re moving along. with 734
mile to Ireland
Seas still following on the Stbd quarter with
light and moderate swell with a doozie as soon as your not paying
attention.
Last night a new noise made itself kinown as I
was trying to get to sleep not rythmic but annoying and only on the steep rolls.
When I couldn't stand it any longer I got up and armed with a flashlight when on
the hunt.. Where the anchor chain goes through the deck and down a guide into
the chain locker it moved just enough to make the annoying sound. And where is
this chain locker you may ask? Just under my bunk. So jamb one dirty sock up in
the guide and another followed by an old tee shirt and finally a pair of
undershorts. Quiet, yes! And so to bed.
Now it's morning and with a good nights sleep I
got to thinking about last eves events. What happens if we get into port
and need the anchor for and emergency stop??? Down goes the anchor up
comes the chain dirty socks et al.
I can see it now the headlines in the Irish
Tribune...
American Sailor Saves Dirty
Laundry from Trans-Atlantic Voyage to Pollute Pristine Harbour.
I think I'll come up with a better way to quiet
that chain.
Melvin's being domestic again and baked 2 loaves
of multi grain bread. They were sitting on the open oven door when one of
those doozies came through. Off the stove top came a freshly brewed cup of tea
and into one of the loaf pans. O'Boy many new words and phrases were added to
the Lancashire lexicon.
Let's hope this weather stays with us as it's
chomping up the miles and we're ready to see the last of the Atlantic for a
while.
