Arrived Horta 1500 Sunday and we are what they
call "rafted out" we are number 6 outboard of the one boat tied up at the dock.
So we have to climb over 5 boats to get to the HW. Makes it all very interesting
with a bag of laundry or a case of beer.
We picked up some seniority and are now only the
3rd boat out.
![]() It seems like there are 2 things you
must do here in Horta, go to Pete's Bar and do a painting of your yacht on
the pier.
![]() ![]() Some of you in the States mentioned that there
was another boat close to us out there in the middle of the
Atlantic.
Well I got to meet a couple of the crew of the
Adventuress.
![]() ![]() That's British Virgin Islands to the
Isle of White (I know I spelt it wrong)
sorry
![]() I have 2 little friends back in NJ who I
think will get
a kick out of the name of this
boat.
![]() I rented a car yesterday and took a tour of the
island.
Melvin had stuff he wanted to do on the boat so
I went off
alone.
I had hoped to walk the rim of the caldeira (the
hole left by an
extinct volcano), but I gave up when clouds
started to settle on the opposite rim.
A wise move I think as wandering around on one's
own in the fog is not a good thing.
Today is one of the many religious holidays here
so everything is closed.
The reason we are still here is a low pressure
area is off to our west and heading here
perhaps Friday so we're waiting to see how
things go and hoping for a Sat departure for Ireland.
