61. Final Leg and Homecoming: Carcassonne
France LFMK to La Côte LSGP Switze rland 12.07.2009 - 986 NM - 1:58Hrs.
“46:24.4N
006:15.5E"
The last and final flight from Carcassonne to our
starting
point, and home base
of HB-PON La Côte Airfield with its 1500 feet grass strip, took us just
under
two hours.
Geneva Air Traffic Control provided radar vectors through the busy
region, until we were overhead of our final destination.
Rolf FRIEDEN (Swiss) and Manfred MELLOH (Australian) finally landed
Sunday late afternoon the 12th of July 2009 at 1618 (1418) with their
Piper
Comanche PA24/260C HB-PON at the cute little Swiss airfield of
La Cote (LSGP) near Gland on the north shore of lake Geneva, and
completed thus their round the world flight, which started over one
year ago,
on the 19th of June 2008 from the same place.
Of course the homecoming was subsequently appropriately celebrated
with (lots!!) of champagne.
Earthrounders
Angela and Flemming Pedersen (who
both love both
earthrounder homecomings and champagne!) were there as well as
many of Rolf's aviator friends.
Great
party!
