Alice Springs, NT YBAS – Ayers Rock, NT YAYE
Having gone through all the usual pre flight tests, and thoroughly
tested the
newly installed AH, we took off just after 2PM heading southwest in
perfect
weather.
Located the airstrip at Kings Creek Station and flew over the
impressive Kings
Canyon,
then a short flight over the various salt pans to Ayers Rock.
Before our landing, we flew the standard scenic flight procedure around
the
Rock
and to the Olgas.
Manfred took the controls, while Rolf took Video footage all along.
We finally landed late that afternoon and picked up the rented car and
booked
into
the Sails Hotel at a discounted rate. Great place! We showered and got
ourselves
ready to drive to the national park to watch the famous sun set over
the Rock,
which took place around 18:15 hours.
Rolf came up with the great idea, to buy a bottle of Champagne to
celebrate
this
special event.
What a sight! The Rock changed color many times.
Sunset at Uluru
After having returned, we decided to have dinner at the Pioneer Hotel
for a
traditional
Cook yourself BBQ.
We enjoyed this meal with county music in a vibrant environment.
After a very eventful and full day, we finally got off to an early bed.
Next day we rose not so early for a traditional Sails breakfast and
then we drove to the Rock and the Olgas for lots of photo shots and
Video.
