In the meantime I have further progressed various maintenance tasks, and also walked to La Turballe and back (c.12k) to buy a newspaper and inspect a small sailing boat well and truly washed up the beach during last weekend’s blow. I spoke to the young ‘down-but-not-quite-out’ skipper – he was hoping to re-float on today’s spring tide. Hope he’s made it – he’ll have needed a powerful tow to pull him off.
Judy joined as planned yesterday. We had aimed to sail at around 0600 this morning, but the actual and forecast was rough and miserable, so I have now opted for Plan B: sail at 0600 tomorrow. We’ll probably head for Belle Isle, anchor off for the night, and thereafter head for the vicinity of Lorient on Tuesday to RV with Seb that evening.
In the meantime Judy’s been doing some crew training (phot) – MOB procedures, essential knots, how to prepare and take a line ashore and prepare the anchor. I can report she’s a very good student! Prior to that, as it was raining and we had the time, Judy suggested attending the morning’s local church (phot) service ‘to enjoy the theatre’. And we had a small meal ashore last night – seated next to a piano (phot)!!!!! The self-control I had to exert in order not to fall foul of detachment fever…..!
