Claudine has departed today, Caroline has arrived today, Malc and Wendy
depart on Saturday, John and Hal arrive Saturday, Mary departs Sunday -
phew! So at the moment we are the '60 somethings' (nearly)!
We have just crossed from Tsunami (airport) to Hvar (25 miles) and are
anchored in the small creek with the private house at the head (the '30
somethings' favourite), just for the night before returning to the airport
for Saturday.
I will leave the crew to recount the events of the last few days since
leaving Vis.
No consideration has been given to the advancing years of the crew, as
you can see from the picture, even the girls have been pressed into service, and
that after their vigorous work out, as pictured in the last
blog. However there has been some relaxation a few lucky ones! !The
decks have been scrubbed, the hull washed down and unmentionable activities in
the heads so we hope be allowed the few moments of relaxation before we
go!
The weather has been great, although we have not always had wind from the
right direction when sailing, but some days everything as fallen into place and
we have had some great sails.
Last night we moored in Split town and despite our initial
trepidations it turned out to be a wonderful place and Brian came up trumps and
took us to an amazing Restaurant where we all had the fantastic Fish
Platter. Having waved goodbye to Claudine, we have now welcomed
Caroline to the "crew" and trust she will have as much fun as we have and enjoy
her trip back to home waters.
Today we sailed partly by sail and partly motoring from Split to a
delightful anchorage to the north west of the island of Hvar. The vegetation is
slightly different here with more trees and smoother rocks which made tying up
the stern lines easier for Malc and Neil. We have missed Claudine and
toasted her at dinner. Caroline is proving to be a willing and able crew.
After a cooling swim we have just enjoyed a lovely meal cooked
by Wendy with meat of unknown origin which took much talent and imagination to
produce
