Thursday 12th June
Departed Gib at 10.00 gmt after waiting 24 hrs
to avoid forecast strong winds and close analysis of all
available weather data. So far so good -12 knots of wind from the NE and flat
sea, although a swell has now built up indicating there has been (or
is) windier weather ahead - hopefully what we have avoided by our delayed
departure. Our planned route is East keeping approx 12 miles off
the North African coast. The wind is forecast to veer E so we will
likely have to put in some long tacks.
A large number of vessels encountered on departing
Gib, some in close proximity - see pic.
John has produced supper - chicken stew, and Malc
has bee preparing tomorrow's whilst conditions are good (and before the mince
went off - eaten out too much in Gib!!).. Now we must get back into our watch
routine - for the next 10 days or so. At our present speed (5.7Kn) the GPS
gives June 20 eta for Malta, but anything between now and then, could (and
likely will) alter this.
Regards to all
